Once qualified, you’ll be able to offer mindfulness sessions in a variety of settings — as a stand-alone course for parents and preschoolers, within nurseries and Early Years environments, as part of your existing classes, or as simple, effective activities in primary schools and home education groups.

Why teach mindfulness to children?

Unlock the power of mindfulness and make a lasting difference in children’s lives. Our instructor training programme gives you the knowledge, tools, and confidence to teach mindfulness in a way that’s engaging, age-appropriate, and effective.

You’ll learn how to support children with emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, and nurture calm through simple meditation techniques, breathing exercises, and sensory-based activities.

Whether you're a teacher, therapist, or parent, this training empowers you to help children build resilience, focus, and inner peace — skills they’ll carry for life. Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous experience in mindfulness or teaching to join the course?

Not at all! This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience. We’ll guide you step-by-step through child-friendly mindfulness techniques and how to deliver them confidently, even if you’re brand new to mindfulness or working with children.

What age group is the course aimed at?

The techniques you’ll learn are adaptable for use with children aged 2–11, including preschoolers, primary-aged children, and home-educated learners. We also include ideas for sessions in nurseries, schools, community groups and 1-to-1 settings.

How long do I have to complete the course and case studies?

The course is designed to be flexible. You can complete it at your own pace and have up to 12 months to so this. Once completed you’ll have ongoing access to the materials and any updates. We recommend completing your two case studies (with feedback and reflection) within 3–6 months — but we understand life happens and can support you with extensions if needed.

Is the course accredited?

Yes, the course is fully accredited and you’ll receive a recognised certificate upon successful completion. The accreditations are: CTHA, IICT, IMMA, CPD Standards, ICAHP and Westminster Indemnity for insurance purposes.

Can I use this qualification as part of my existing work with children?

Absolutely! Many of our instructors integrate mindfulness into their current roles — from early years practitioners and teachers to therapists, yoga instructors, and support staff. The course is designed to complement a wide range of child-focused professions, offering practical tools to enhance emotional wellbeing and self-regulation in children.

Will I be fully qualified to teach mindfulness after the course?

Yes! Once completed, you’ll be certified as a Mindfulness for Children Instructor and able to run your own sessions independently — whether that’s in nurseries, schools, or community settings. You’ll also receive a certificate, teaching resources, and session plans to get started.
Meet the instructor

Julie Cleasby

Hi, I’m Julie — a paediatric nurse, health visitor, and mum of twins with over 26 years' experience supporting children and families.

My journey into mindfulness began over two decades ago, not just as a practitioner, but as a parent navigating the ups and downs of life with neurodiverse children. I’ve seen first-hand how simple mindfulness techniques can help children feel calmer, more connected, and confident in themselves — and I’m passionate about sharing that with others.

Alongside my nursing and health visitor background, I’m a qualified mindfulness practitioner, clinical hypnotherapist, forest bathing instructor, baby massage and yoga trainer, and paediatric hypnotherapist. Over the years, I’ve taught thousands of parents and professionals, written and delivered training across the NHS and private sector, and continued to learn, adapt, and evolve what I teach based on real-world experience.

This course brings together everything I’ve learned — professionally and personally — to give you a practical, compassionate approach to teaching mindfulness to children.
