At what age should baby stop baby massage or baby yoga sessions?

At what age should baby stop baby massage or baby yoga sessions? This question was asked at one of our live Q&A session for To Baby and Beyond students past and present.
The general consensus is that babies tend to stop attending groups due to not being static enough for baby massage around the 7-8 month mark as this is when they start to roll, crawl or otherwise move themselves around the place! Obviously this can be sooner or later depending on a child’s mobility or desire to move around. Some babies can be kept to their mat with the use of a distracting toy or similar. Parents often continue to massage at home on into the early years.

For baby yoga, 18 months is usually the age at which sessions end, although this is then an ideal time for the transition to a toddler and child yoga class. However we find in practice baby yoga usually suitable up to pre -walking (around 1 year). Toddler yoga is suitable for children from around 18 months to 5 years old, with most toddlers participating better from around 2.5 years. Prior to this they need quite a lot of support from parents to get into the poses.

Thinking about teaching a baby related class? We offer both a baby massage instructor course and a baby yoga instructor course, amongst others. Take a browse of our course directory to see the full choice.
