How should I approach having a baby with clicky hips in my baby massage or yoga class?

What happens if a parent indicates on their pre-class form that their child either has clicky hips, or other hip issues?
As it happens, clicky hips or other hip displasia issues are fairly unusual. If you are aware that a baby in your baby massage class is either waiting for a hip scan or check, or they’re wearing a hip spica, it's best to avoid moves like Row, Row, Row Your Boat and Rockabye Baby. Parents can avoid the legs and focus on the other parts of the body instead. There are plenty of alternatives, and perhaps just give these some thoughts before the session.

Usually (but not always) babies at baby yoga are older and have been checked out so this situation becomes both even less likely but also less of an issue at this point. Again, concentrate on the upper body or feet and avoid the hip movements.

If you'd like to share the amazing benefits of baby massage or baby yoga with families in your community, take a look at our instructor courses.

We currently offer our baby massage instructor course as an online face-to-face course (next course details here) as well as a distance learning version that you study at your own pace. The information on the distance learning option is here.

You can learn to teach baby yoga on our self-paced distance learning course. Take a look at how that works here.
